GSM CHANGES - 8th Feb 2010
Date: 08-02-2010 11:33 AM

Dear Friends & Clients,

Well the guessing game is over and now we face the reality of the NEW & UPCOMING CHANGES to General Skilled Migration Program.

We have been requesting ALL our clients who have had their skills assessed & have the required IELTS score NOT to delay and file their Main Application ASAP.

Those clients who depend on MODL to achieve the score 120 points are NO longer eligible to apply for skilled migration as of date (refer to the attached document) and those who depend to score 100 points if State Sponsored are also out.

There are links in the document that will lead to other relevant information and changes introduced by the Minister today. Details have been released of extensive changes to the General Skilled Migration program.

Highlights of the changes include;

1 Revocation of the Migration Occupations in Demand List

2 Abolition of the Critical Skills List

3 The introduction of a new Skilled Occupations List in mid 2010

4 A quota being placed on pre-1 September 2007 offshore applications with applications not coming within the quota being “terminated’ and the filing fee refunded

5 Changes to priority processing

6 A review of the points test

7 Allowing pre-1 January 2010 trades skills assessments to be used for General Skilled Migration applications so the holders of such assessments will not be required to undertake the Job Ready Program

Transitional arrangements have been made which are outlined in material on the DIAC website.

You maybe affected or you may still have a chance, please check with us ASAP and if you are eligible then you MUST apply because as of April 2010 there will be a NEW Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and your occupation may or may not be on the list.

NOTE: If you have lodged your visa application after 1st October 2007 and before 8th February 2010 – YOU NEED NOT WORRY! Your application will be finalised as per the eligibility criteria on the date of application.
